Barnaby Joyce is fighting the Emissions Trading Scheme

The following is the body of an email I received from Senator Barnaby Joyce.

You can also join the fight against the ETS tax.

Dear friend

In 2009 The Nationals led the charge against the proposed Emissions Trading Scheme. At the time only 7 per cent of people supported us.

With your help we convinced our Coalition partners, the Australian people and eventually even Julia Gillard herself to ditch a plan to impose a big, new tax as a way of cooling the planet.

Now, despite telling the Australian people five days before the last election that “There will be no carbon tax under the government I lead”, Julia Gillard is telling Australians that we really do need one.

So now we have to fight the carbon tax fight again. I have no doubt that with the support of the millions that helped last time, we can stop another Labor tax - again.

We will win because you can’t cool the planet from a room in Canberra.

We will win because if taxes cooled the planet, the place would already be an icebox.

We will win because people are already paying over 40% more for their electricity since Kevin Rudd was elected in 2007. People don’t need another excuse to turn down the heating.

We will win because we have a choice between cheap power and cheap wages. If we end up with dear power and dear wages we will have no jobs.

We will win because a carbon tax would especially hurt those that live outside our capital cities, who rely on affordable transport to keep the cost of living down.

We will win because the Australian people don’t like being misled, particularly by their Prime Minister.

Julia Gillard sits in the same office as Curtin, Chifley, Menzies and Whitlam. All of these Prime Ministers had their faults, but none deceived the Australian people in the way that Julia Gillard has.

The only way that the Australian people can stop this from happening again is to send a loud and clear message to Canberra that they will not tolerate such deception.

Today I spoke at the “no carbon tax rally” in Canberra where thousands did exactly that.

I realise that many Australians could not make it to Canberra but there are many other ways that you can help.

We are ready to fight against a government whose every solution to every problem is a new tax.

Barnaby Joyce
Leader of The Nationals in the Senate

A week in Gods care

I just had to write of some of the awesome things that have been happening around here. This blog has been a little empty of late - and that's partly because of the new business taking up time, the photography business kicking along and just the sheer business of life. But some things have been happening that are connected in ways that are amazing giving me cause to write this article. The photo here was taken Sunday afternoon as a planned shoot for a connected human or a cyborg theme. In this case the two people are totally connected and entangled in the cables and trappings of computer hardware. It was a very interesting concept to put together and shoot and the whole team had a great amount of fun doing it.

2010-08-22 Cyborg Shoot 100Lets start with Sunday - the beginning of the week. For just over a year now our church has been searching for a new pastor after the leaving of the last one. Sunday the search ended with the pastor the search committee and the leadership recommended being accepted by the church. At the conclusion of that meeting we had a BBQ lunch and I was able to share with the church first the little miracle that took place where god miraculously provided the two trays of sliced bread we needed for that lunch. I used that as an example to show how Gods care for us in even the little things is an example of his absolute care for us in all things. Stressing and having anxiety over things in our life is wrong, hurtful and unhealthy.

Letter to my member of parliament

I just sent this to my Member of Parliament regarding the proposed internet censorship scheme.

no clean feed Feel free to use this if you want. I adapted this from Broadband Revolution.

Dear Mr _______

I was wondering if you were able to answer the following questions for me please about the proposed filter / censorship scheme that Senator Conroy is planning to introduce.

1. Has the probability of inadvertent exposure to Refused Classification material by adults been quantified? If not, is this probability judged to be: low, moderate or high?

2. Have the consequences of inadvertent exposure to Refused Classification material by adults been measured? Are these thought to be minor, major or serious?

3. Has the quantity of potentially Refused Classification material in existence on the Internet been estimated in either absolute or relative terms?

4. Does the Government have an estimate or measure of the percentage of potentially Refused Classification material on the Internet that is currently Refused Classification? What is that estimate?
