Stupid is as Stupid does

This academic article publishing the research from Cornell University by Justin Kruger and David Dunning is excellent.

The main premise of their research is that stupid people can't recognise their own stupidity or learn from it.

OK in their actual words,
We argue that when people are incompetent in
the strategies they adopt to achieve success and satisfaction, they
suffer a dual burden: Not only do they reach erroneous conclusions
and make unfortunate choices, but their incompetence robs them of
the ability to realize it.
