What is your reason/motivation for blogging?

I love writing and engaging with others through my writing, finding support and encouragement from others who are like minded and being challenged by and learning from those with different perspectives.  For me it's all about the people I come to meet (virtually, or physically) through blogging.

What is it that you find yourself blogging about, mostly the same stuff or does it vary?

My personal blog then evolved to become more about blog design and development.  I also blog about TV shows and the TV industry in New Zealand over at Throng.

What style of blogging do you do, short and regular, or not so regular but long, other? And is your blogging just text or do you also use audio or video?

On Throng, I'm pretty regular, posting every day.  On cre8d, I would love to blog more regularly but have been so busy lately that it hasn't been as regular as I'd like.  I'd prefer to write something really original and offering something of value on cre8d than posting every day just for the sake of it.  I find a lot of blogs post too often for me - I'd prefer less posts with more quality and originality.

42-15530438 How Rachel became a Geek Girl Blogger:

Early 2002, I discovered the world of blogs and got completely hooked!  I found people who were passionate about things I was exploring at the time and became part of a community of people geographically disperse but with common vision.  I quickly started my own personal blog in April of that year and grew close to the people I came to know.
I found that although I was writing a personal blog, I slowly evolved to writing about tech topics that were interesting me - including blogging and blog design.
More and more people started asking me to do design work on their blogs and this became more and more of my focus with cre8d, rather than just webdesign in general.
In 2003, my husband and I began Idolblog as an experiment which became a vibrant community blog with a lot of media exposure here in New Zealand.
In 2006 we launched Throng, a more general TV community blog which has grown and now is in four countries.  Meanwhile, cre8d design's business grew and became almost solely focussed on creating blogs and community sites for clients all over the globe.
At the end of last year, we went on a round the world trip, and I finally got to meet in person some of the original bloggers from 2002 I had come to know so well.  It was fantastic!
