Robin Good poses the question whether Short vs Long articles are best when writing for a web audience.
I like this statement he made:
Should your website have concise or in-depth content?
- If you want many readers, focus on short and scannable content. This is a good strategy for advertising-driven sites or sites that sell impulse buys.
- If you want people who really need a solution, focus on comprehensive coverage. This is a good strategy if you sell highly targeted solutions to complicated problems.
On SpyJournal we try to write a mixture of short, easily scanned articles with links to deeper content for viewers who want to find out more, and some long more indepth articles. Hopefully the balance works out for us!
