One side effect of being sick and not eating ( I have had 2 pieces of toast in the last 36 hours) is the weight loss - I was down to 110.9KGs this morning!
My goal is to get below 110 so it was nice seeing that number on the scales this morning. I suspect I will go back up a kg or two once I start eating again. I have lost several kgs lately as my exercise levels have ramped up with basketball and AFL. I was sitting on 113 or so before being sick.
it hit me last night - after basketball coaching was over and after I had spent 4 hours working on taxes. I went to bed when I kept waking up with my hands holding keys down on the keyboard.
Sometime in the middle of the night I woke to a gurgling stomach. No more details are necessary, save that I haven't dared go far from the bathroom today. I am the last of the family to get it to hit me. I thought I was going to escape.
At least this is a long weekend and I have felt better enough today after spending half the day in bed to finish the tax work and even watch the Anzac Parade on TV.
Recovery is happening too slow - I want to be better now! Oh well - time now to go play with the kids before the Anzac Day football hits the big screen.
I am really enjoying coaching the kids. I have been coaching them now since February this year. We had been playing together on and off since December, and they asked me to be their coach.
It has been great researching the coaching skills for the drills and the skills I have been using for 20 years, and even more fun putting it together in a package for these kids.
I have between 10 and 15 kids turn up once a week for a full training session in a gym, and 5-6 of them come running with me on Monday night and then to a local half court for skills drills and some 3 on 3.
The really exhilarating thing is seeing them start to pick up skills. They are all nearly shooting correctly now (when none of them did before) and they can all attempt a layup with most of them making it around 30% of the time. Their field shooting is increasing slightly, to close to 20%. I want to get it closer to 40% if I can.
So much happened I cant write it all down but some summaries will have to do.
Football - played 2 games in the tournament - damaged my hamstring again though not badly - however will be needing some work on it. Played full forward for about 15 minutes and kicked a behind, got a tackle that went un rewarded, missed another kick and had 3 coring opportunities where the ball kicked to me didn't come straight to me and I couldn't mark it. Still hd lots of fun and the team is starting to gel. The rest of the time I played in defence and laid a lot of tackles and disposed of the ball cleanly. The coach said afterward I had clean hands. Oh and I had a contested mark inside 50 that I went back to kick, but one of our players ran into space in the pocket so I kicked to him, and his kick was touched on the line.
