Writing has been my life's passion since I was young and blogging gives me the opportunity to write whenever I want or need to. I have always been a storyteller and through blogging I can tell more stories - whether it's publishing PR tips to help clients, posting a quote that inspired me or writing about my own experiences as a business mum.
My blog posts vary depending on what is going on in my life at the time. My Essential Baby posts are always about parenting experiences, however my Strawberry Communications blog can be strictly business or personal - whatever takes my fancy on the day I'm blogging. When I'm using Twitter I blog a combination of what I'm working on for clients, what I'm doing or feeling personally and anything else that has interested me at that moment.
I try to post to my Strawberry Communications blog at least once a week and post to Essential Baby every three weeks. These blog posts tend to be around 300-500 words, so I guess medium length. I sometimes use images and keep intending to try out audio and video, but haven't managed them yet! But when you're talking about Twitter that's another story altogether. I use Twitter everyday, both on the web and via Social Scope on my Blackberry. I tweet while I'm working and while I'm relaxing in front of the TV.
I started blogging after my first son was born in 2006. I wrote about having polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) and being a new mum at www.pcosmum.com. I loved sharing my experiences with others and made new friends through blogging, so continued with once I set up Strawberry Communications in 2007.
Essential Baby asked me to blog for them about parenting and, being the storyteller I am, I could never pass up an opportunity to write!
As a journalist I found it difficult at first to make the move from telling the story through objective eyes to sometimes being the story, but it's something I have embraced and can't stop now. Social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter have just opened up new avenues for me to blog, just on a smaller - but more prolific - scale.
