Current Employment: Trader Business Media, West End. Officially titled 'Digital Content Producer' I spend my days filming and producing webcasts for several transport publications. They're short clips mainly featuring new product releases, exclusive interviews and events/show reviews.

What is your reason/motivation for blogging?

I write to feel alive, to create. I write to center my thoughts, and keep a record of my feelings and opinions. I write for my audience, but more-so, I write for me. I love to design and perfect short narratives and recounts, and textual blogging provides me with the perfect platform for this.

What is it that you find yourself blogging about, mostly the same stuff or does it vary?

My blogs most often feature snippets of my personal creative writing projects. I write confessional blogs, exposing myself and my opinions on personal and mainly conceptual topics like family, a fluid concept I like to theorise about, as well as friend relationships and love relationships and the interesting bleeds that exist between the three.

What style of blogging do you tend to use: short and regular, or not so regular but long, other? And is your blogging  text + photos or do you also use audio/ video?

In my blog, I generally only post text. On a rare occasion I've been known to add an image to illustrate an event I'm recounting, or a link to another source. Generally though, text is a suitable medium for my blogs. The length of my blogs vary, though usually stay below 1,000 words. I often write lists, or list-like paragraph progressions that move from point to point unveiling more about my subject matter. In terms of regularity, I usually blog around once a week. I believe that this is the least that one can blog, and still maintain a loyal readership.

How Kate became a Geek Girl Blogger:

Like so many before me I began writing for fun on LiveJournal.com in around 2004. This allowed me to learn for the first time, about online social networking. After I fell in love with the online diary format the website offered, I became quickly addicted to the interactive element as people commented on my blog, and I had the opportunity to reciprocate. About a year later I grew tired LiveJournal, and in my search for higher ground stumbled upon an art/photography blogging/social networking website called SuicideGirls.com. SG featured a similar blogging space function, and social networking interaction as LiveJournal. Unlike LiveJournal though, SG offered extra cultural elements along side the blogging/social networking functions - it offered photography to peruse, and interest group forums to spend time in. In time, I grew away from the specific cultural indy scene that SG provided, and started to seek a way to continue blogging and social networking, mutually exclusively. I found a suitable blogging platform via WordPress.com, and farmed my social networking needs onto Twitter.com. And there I rested.
